IEC 60601-1 3rd Edition – Medical Power Supplies

Our design and safety engineers at Integrated Power Designs (IPD) are keenly aware of the arduous process that medical equipment designers face when creating new and innovative products.  We constantly track upcoming changes in the 60601-1 medical standard and make sure that our medical power supplies meet or exceed the latest requirements.  Having our power supplies always meet the most recent standard before it goes into effect gives you the product you need, when you need it.   The most recent CB Certificates can be downloaded from our individual product pages.

All of IPD’s products are designed, tested and manufactured at one site.  This allows us to keep tight constraints on all quality controls for our power supplies.  There is no “dis-connect” from using different facilities around the world.

Transition from 60601-1 2nd Edition to 60601-1 3rd Edition
The major differences between 60601-1 2nd Edition and 60601-1 3rd edition are the inclusion of risk management analysis and MOOP (means of operator protection) and MOPP (means of patient protection) in regards to creepage/clearance and dielectric requirements. The risk management analysis is not required of component power supplies, however we know that when designing equipment, more information is always better and have completed the risk management for our power supplies.  This information is available upon request to our customers. All IPD medical power supplies have been approved to the 60601-1 3rd edition standard and are available with:2MOPP primary to secondary isolation (AC-DC products)2MOOP primary to secondary isolation (DC-DC products)
